Get Pumped with Ian- Drink Review
Posted by Ian in Diet, Health on 09 9th, 2008| | No Comments »

I tried a drink called Verve Energy Drink and I thought it was very tasty. The can is burnt orange and white, which is very reminisce of the Texas Longhorns. Verve has 12 vitamins and 65 minerals. This energy drink’s flavor is mango with a bit of papaya. Verve is organic and contains aloe vera, mangosteen, and green tea. Mangosteen has antioxidant properties. Verve also comes in a sugar free form. I recommend this product for everyone and for those who have bad allergies.

Verve uses a reverse osmosis carbonated water in the energy drink. What is reverse osmosis carbonated water you may ask? Reverse osmosis is water that is forced through membranes to remove minerals in the water. Here is the can and the nutrition value:

Rock-A-Bye Brew
From The October Issue of Muscle Mag
by Will Drury

Ingredients:
1 scoop chocolate casein protein powder
2 Tbsp. peanut butter – Please use smooth peanut butter!
12 oz. warm low-fat milk.

Directions:
Put all ingredients in a blender and puree.

Nutrition Information (Serves one.)
461 Calories
56g Protein
28 g Carbs
20 g Fat

I like this shake because it will send you right to sleep. Sleep is very important with being healthy and fit. Lack of sleep can cause decrease in performance, alertness, decrease the memory, obesity, stroke, and much more. As far as the flavors of the shakes goes, I am not a big chocolate fan so I decided to use Creamy Vanilla Casein protein. It was great. If you want a hint of spice, shake some cinnamon on top. I wonder how would it taste with different casein flavors? I think the next flavor I will try with this recipe will be cookies and crème or chocolate chip mint.

How water benefits you?

Water is necessary for your body to digest and absorb vitamins and nutrients. Besides keeping you hydrated, it can lessen your chances of getting kidney stones. Water can help prevents and lessen the severity of colds and flu. It also helps to prevent constipation. We all know that a hard problem to get over- Pun intended! Water can also increase your mental and physical performance. This is extremely important in Bodybuilding. The average man should drink 13 cups of water a day while women should drink 9 cups a day unless she is pregnant then water increases to 10 cups a day. Breast-feeding turns the water intake up to 13 cups.

Drinking two cups on an empty stomach can also speed up your metabolism by 20 percent. Water flushes out wastes in the body and transports nutrients. Another function of water in the body is cooling off your body especially if you’re sweating and losing fluids. Drink one cup every 15 minutes of any physical activity. I suggest that you drink 2-3 more cups of water while exercising because you have to replenish that lost fluids in your body from sweating. If you are working out intensely, use a sports drink also to restore the sodium lost during workout.

I personally drink 16 cups of water everyday. This includes my water intake for working out. When I was beginning my workout routine I did not realize the important of water. I realized that water was important to daily nutrition and fitness. I also realized that water intake can be found in many fruits and vegetables such as watermelon and iceberg lettuce.

When doing the Floor Press use the Power rack. If your gym doesn’t have a power rack then I suggest that you use the Smith machine. Make sure that you set up the safeties according to your arm length. Lie down on the floor and place your body under the bar. Find your grip and explode up. Come down until your elbows hit the floor. I suggest that you show bring the barbell down slowly so you can feel the burn. Please make sure to pause in the bottom of the movement before lifting the weights. Pause for a two counts and then explode up and make sure that you squeeze your pecs.

There are two different ways to Floor press. The first type is floor pressing with straight legs. The straight leg method helps you not to cheat. Just so you know when on the bench press you use your legs to lift. The straight leg method makes you rely on your real upper body power without help from other body parts. The second technique is the arched back. In this technique, you knees are bent     and the back is arched. If you back is arched high enough, the floor press will turn into a decline bench press.

I love this exercise. I use this exercise before I hit the chest hard and intense. This is a power lifting technique that will take your bench to new levels!  The Floor press can help you out if you want a bench press more weights. This can help you get a thicker and triceps. Most of your power can be found at the midpoint of your bench. Do not bounce the bar off your chest to get momentum to press up to complete a rep.
