Atkins Diet Vegetarian Version

Everyone is familiar or has surely heard of the famous Atkins Diet. And while we know that it has shown some significant aid for people aching to curb down weight, it seems curious to note what the vegetarian version would produce. Called the Eco-Atkins diet, this is said to be a great low-carb diet that can help people lose weight and lower cholesterol levels as well.

The Eco-Atkins diet is touted to work better than a high-carb diet at reducing levels of low-density lipoprotein or LDL, which raises the risks of heart attacks and strokes. The traditional Atkins low-carb diet has been known to help lower blood fats known as triglycerides and raise high-density lipoprotein cholesterol or HDL, the “good” cholesterol, but it also tends to raise bad cholesterol levels.

So from a standpoint, one may conclude that the eco version addresses the bad cholesterol issue from the original Atkins Diet. Perhaps due to the high vegetarian requirements in the form of soy, nuts, fruits, vegetables, cereals and vegetable oils may have negated this from happening considering that veggies are better for the body over meat (with due consideration on the things going around concerning cows and other sources of meat).

But again do not get carried away. These are only preliminary studies meaning they need further deliberation to be medically recommended. There are a lot of people out there looking for great diet alternatives but for now, let us wait until the official word is out on the reliability of this Eco-Atkins Diet.
