Bodybuilder Wins Steak Eating Contest

One thing about people who pump iron, they may have big appetites. While that may sound weird, you just have to consider the fact that due to the calories they burn, their appetite is certainly justifies why they can afford to eat more than the average person.

Jodie Dumouchel of Sudbury won his second straight victory at the North Shore Cruisers car club’s Seventh Annual Steak Eating Contest at Dunlop Lake Lodge on Saturday. He finished a 70-ounce (four pounds, six ounces) rare steak in 39 minutes and 52 seconds. Last year, he devoured the monster in 39 minutes and 10 seconds.

The bodybuilder’s competition was Jay Martin, an Elliot Lake appliance technician, who gave up eating his steak before time had elapsed. He took home 15.5 ounces of meat with about 10 minutes left to go.

The contest was held to raise money for the club’s Sick Kids Fund, which help sick children and their families to travel outside the city for medical treatment. This year, the club collected $5,300, which was about $2,000 more than in 2008.
