Brown Fat Speeds up the Weight Loss Process

Here is something that weight loss people may want to consider. Apparently there is an adipose tissue that can help burn calories faster. These are known as brown fats, the same tissues that keep newborns warm.
Unlike regular white fat, which stores energy, brown fat burns calories to produce heat. While this kind of fat was long thought only to exist in children, a new study shows adults also have brown adipose tissue in their body; the fat however is dormant. Brown fat is more commonly reported in thin adults and those with normal blood glucose levels. Compared to women, men have lower amounts of brown fat.
According to the study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, the amount of brown fat in the body of more than half of adult men and women is enough to burn considerable amounts of white fat.
Activated by cold temperatures, brown fat burns more white fat to produce the required calories. Fifty grams of activated brown adipose tissue can produce 20 percent of an individual’s resting energy expenditure.
Scientists are optimistic that their findings will pave the way for the development of new weight loss strategies.
They believe stimulating the growth of this type of fat can help control weight and improve glucose metabolism, thereby preventing obesity and type 2 diabetes.
