Get Pumped with Ian- What do you need to get pumped up?

So you want to get pump huh? Well there are a few thing you will need to lift up that heavy weight! So take notes!

1) Clothing and footwear

Many gyms have different dress codes. Some may say that you have a no hat policy while allow guys to go topless. Either way you need some clothing that is reliable and gets the job done. I suggest going to Target or Walmart to get some workout gear that is low in price and functional. I like Champion® sportswear myself. If you are interested in t-shirt pertaining to bodybuilding try http://www.bodybuildinguniverse.com/

They have awesome shirt with great logo’s

2.) Duffel Bag

Get a bag to put all of your stuff in. If you are a light packer than get a small big. If you have to have everything with you or you are going to the gym straight from work, than get a big bag. You do not have to get fancy with a duffel bag. Most bags range from 10-35 bucks. If you have a bag more that than you paid way too much.

3.) MP3 player/ iPod

If you are a fan of the music at the gym than skip this otherwise get one. You can make your own play list. Everyone does not get pumped from pop music so get an MP3 or iPod and make your own soundtrack. I like heavy metal and rap myself. It can get the adrenaline going! You can an mp3 as low as $20!

4.) Journal

Write down your progress at the gym. By writing down what your are doing you can know your average weight loss, muscle mass, and overall improvement in the gym. You can use a spiral notebook, composition Notebook, or buy a bodybuilding journal. If you are a pen and paper type of person than opt for this. Make sure to write everyday about your routine and your how much your lifted that day!

They also have online journals if you are more comfortable. Check out http://forum.bodybuilding.com/. Just click on the workout journals and type away. There is another site called Ripped Academy where you can journal your progress, ask some professional bodybuilders /trainers and interact with fellow gym rats! The best thing about these sites are that they are free. Absolutely free! Plus they are get for the environment-paperless!

5.) Get a weight lifting belt

A weightlifting belt has two main purposes.

A.) Reduces stress on the
lower back while the person is lifting in an upright position

B.) Prevents back hyper extension during overhead lifts.

I suggest that you get a leather weight belt. In my opinion Leather belts last longer than others. I am a fan of Valeo weight belts but any brand will do. Belts can range from $9-$40. I would not suggest that you pay more than that. You can the best deals online but shop around!

6.) Weightlifting gloves/ weightlifting straps

Some like weightlifting gloves while others like straps. I am a straps man but I will use gloves occasionally. Weightlifting gloves help with grip and ease the formation of calluses. The purpose of lifting straps is to help  your grip between your wrist and the
weight. A set of straps are placed around your
wrists and then wrapped around the barbell, dumbbell or cable attachment.

7.) Shoes

You have to have a good pair of shoes to lift in. You have to wear footwear at all time when lifting. I do ot suggest sandal. Get a pair of reasonable price pair of sneakers. Try Zappos.com. They have a wide variety of sneakers with various sizes. As a matter of fact Zappos.com sales some sneakers up to size 20. If you are not a online shopper than check out Footlocker or your local shoes salesman.

8.) Drive

This is the most important thing to have when you want lose the fat and gain some muscle. You have to have the drive and perseverance to go to the gym everyday. Drive can essential to fulfilling owns goal. If you goal is to lift weight, get lean and cut–you need drive!
